Job Description

The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director of Engineering in managing hotel facilities, building services, preventive maintenance and daily engineering operations. The role typically requires a diploma or degree in engineering, facilities management or a related field, along with several years of experience in hotel engineering, preferably within a luxury or international property. Candidates should understand electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, fire and life-safety systems, and local regulatory requirements. Strong leadership, budgeting, contractor management and problem-solving skills are expected. The successful candidate will supervise engineering colleagues, maintain reliable and safe facilities, control costs, respond quickly to breakdowns and support energy-saving and sustainability initiatives while meeting Shangri-La service standards.
