Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. It offers strong employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, finance and technology. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest dress, respect for Islam and awareness of local customs are important. Lifestyle options range from busy city living and luxury shopping to beaches, desert activities and outdoor attractions. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are generally pleasant. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit, with the employer usually arranging medical checks, Emirates ID processing and related paperwork. Relocation packages may include accommodation, transport, meals, insurance and annual flights, although conditions vary. Candidates should confirm contract terms, probation, benefits and recruitment costs before travelling.
