Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Hotels and resorts regularly recruit for guest services, food and beverage, housekeeping, events, recreation and management roles. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally welcoming, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle options include excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, beaches at Sentosa and green spaces such as Gardens by the Bay and MacRitchie Reservoir. Living costs, particularly rent, are high, so employer accommodation or a housing allowance is worth checking. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Candidates should secure an offer before relocating, confirm pass eligibility, arrange health insurance and budget for deposits, transport and daily expenses.
