Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, logistics, technology and finance. Hospitality jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, Changi and major business districts. The culture is multicultural, English-speaking and generally punctual, orderly and service-oriented, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Public transport is excellent, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Employees commonly live in shared apartments or rooms outside the central area to reduce costs. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on nationality, salary, qualifications and current government rules. Employers usually arrange or support the application, but candidates should confirm the pass type, salary, accommodation, medical requirements and contract terms before relocating. Singapore is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
