Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, finance, retail, technology, and international business. Its culture blends Chinese traditions with global influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in professional and hospitality settings and Mandarin is increasingly useful. Life is fast-paced, highly connected, and convenient, with excellent public transport, compact urban neighbourhoods, diverse food, shopping, beaches, hiking, and nearby islands. Eligible professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer under the General Employment Policy, with approval based on qualifications, a genuine job offer, market salary, and the employer’s business need. Applicants should secure the offer before relocating and prepare passport, qualifications, references, and medical or identity documents if requested. Housing is expensive, so compare staff accommodation, shared flats, and areas connected by MTR. Employer benefits may include meals, medical coverage, service charge, or relocation assistance.
