Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, events, restaurants, finance, technology and international business. The culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western influences, with English widely used at work. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, although accommodation and everyday expenses can be high. Public transport is excellent, and beaches, parks, shopping areas and diverse food are easy to reach. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligible professional roles may use an Employment Pass, while other positions may qualify for an S Pass, subject to current salary, quota and eligibility rules. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. Before relocating, applicants should budget for rent, deposits, healthcare, transport and possible relocation costs, and confirm accommodation and work-pass arrangements with the employer.
