Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, marketing, food and beverage, events and resort operations, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other coastal destinations. Penang combines heritage streets, modern cafés and a lively arts scene, while Langkawi is known for beaches, nature and resort employment. Sabah and Sarawak provide strong ecotourism and island-resort opportunities. Malaysian culture is diverse, blending Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English commonly used in hotels and business. Lifestyle costs are generally manageable, although Kuala Lumpur and popular resort areas can be more expensive. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage and local transport before moving. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and approval depends on the role, salary, nationality and current immigration rules. Confirm visa requirements and employment conditions with Shangri-La and Malaysian authorities before relocation.
