Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The company is recognised for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and distinctive properties in city and resort destinations. Its Malaysian operations include luxury hotels and resorts serving business and leisure travellers, with departments covering rooms, food and beverage, events, finance, engineering and procurement. Employees generally work in a structured, multicultural environment with opportunities for professional development and internal mobility across the group. Procurement teams play an important role in maintaining product quality, controlling costs and supporting smooth hotel operations. The company typically looks for people who are service-focused, reliable, collaborative and comfortable working to detailed operational and brand standards.
Malaysia is a multicultural country rather than a single island destination, with major opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, logistics, technology and finance offer employment for local and international professionals. Malaysian culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, reflected in its festivals, languages and food. Lifestyle costs are moderate compared with many global cities, although Kuala Lumpur and resort areas can be more expensive. Beaches and island destinations such as Langkawi, Tioman, Redang and the Perhentians support a relaxed outdoor lifestyle. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must meet immigration and salary requirements. Relocation involves securing a valid contract, visa approval, accommodation and local medical coverage. English is widely used in business, while Malay is the national language.
