Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago with major employment centers in Metro Manila, Cebu, Boracay and other resort destinations. Hospitality professionals can find opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism and cruise-related services, although competition is strongest for management roles. Filipino culture is generally welcoming, community-oriented and service-focused, with English widely used in business and tourism. Lifestyle varies from fast-paced urban living in Manila to a more relaxed beach-oriented setting in Cebu or resort islands. Costs are usually lower than in many Western countries, but Manila housing and international-school fees can be expensive. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa before starting employment; requirements depend on nationality and contract. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, taxes, healthcare, relocation support and contract terms directly with Shangri-La and Philippine authorities.
