Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, tourism, events, restaurants, retail, technology and shared services. Island and coastal locations such as Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Redang and Tioman provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, diving and a strong hospitality community, while Kuala Lumpur offers broader corporate career options. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business and tourism. Living costs are generally moderate, although island resorts may have higher rental and transport costs. International employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or other appropriate work authorisation; working on a tourist or social visit pass is not permitted. Employers usually guide the application process, but approval depends on immigration requirements and contract terms. Candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, flights, tax and relocation support before accepting a position.
