Destination Guide

Indonesia offers diverse hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and the resort islands. Bali is the main international tourism hub, with strong demand for hotel sales, MICE, events, food and beverage and guest services. Jakarta, on Java, has the country's largest corporate and convention market, while Lombok and other islands focus more on leisure and resort tourism. Local culture values respect, community, modesty and relationship building; basic Bahasa Indonesia is useful even in international hotels. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed beach communities, with generally affordable food and transport, although major resort areas can be costly. Foreign nationals normally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate work and residence permits before starting employment. Candidates should confirm visa arrangements, accommodation, healthcare, taxation and relocation support directly with Shangri-La.
