Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, logistics, technology and finance. Hospitality work is multicultural and service-focused, with English widely used in the workplace. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping and many green spaces, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; the appropriate pass depends on qualifications, salary and occupation, and the employer usually manages the application. Before relocating, confirm the contract, accommodation, deductions, medical requirements and work-pass approval. Renting a room in a shared apartment is often more affordable than living alone. Singapore has a warm, humid climate throughout the year, so suitable clothing and careful budgeting are advisable.
