Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city and coastal territory with strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, accounting, technology, retail and professional services. English is widely used in business, while Cantonese is dominant locally and Mandarin is also common. Life combines dense urban districts, excellent public transport, international dining and shopping with beaches, hiking trails and nearby islands. Housing is expensive, so many newcomers begin with shared accommodation or live in areas connected by the MTR. Employers typically sponsor eligible foreign professionals through an employment visa, usually requiring a confirmed job, suitable qualifications and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Applicants should check current Immigration Department rules and arrange medical, banking and housing matters before arrival. Hong Kong offers efficient transport and extensive amenities, but long working hours, humidity and limited living space may require adjustment.
