Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities in hotel engineering, maintenance, construction, tourism, and facilities management, especially in Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam, and major cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya. Bali is the most internationally oriented island, with a relaxed lifestyle, strong tourism demand, diverse restaurants, and established expatriate communities. Java provides broader career options and better access to industrial suppliers and technical services, while Lombok offers a quieter resort environment. Indonesian workplaces value politeness, teamwork, respect for hierarchy, and relationship building. Living costs vary considerably; Bali’s popular areas can be expensive, while many parts of Java are more affordable. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship, an appropriate work permit, and a limited-stay visa before starting work. Employers commonly assist with documentation, accommodation, transport, or meals, but these benefits should be confirmed in the contract.
