Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, technology, finance and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences; English is widely used at work, while Mandarin and other languages can be useful in restaurant roles. Life is convenient and safe, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare and abundant food choices, although rent and daily expenses can be high. Singapore is hot and humid throughout the year, with frequent rain. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Employers usually guide approved applicants through the application process. Before relocating, candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, working hours, overtime arrangements and pass eligibility. Changi Airport provides convenient international connections.
