Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, construction, technology, finance and healthcare. Its culture combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and daily life. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with excellent public transport, healthcare, shopping and dining. Housing can be expensive, especially near central areas, so many workers choose shared accommodation or neighborhoods connected by MRT. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, transport and medical insurance, and verify employment terms, pass eligibility and relocation support before accepting an offer.
