Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and retail. Its culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, modern healthcare and abundant food options. Housing and daily expenses can be high, especially near central areas, so accommodation and salary should be reviewed carefully. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Security roles may also require local licensing, training or regulatory approval. New arrivals should arrange medical checks, banking, transport access and suitable housing. Singapore's tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so lightweight clothing and flexibility for shift work are useful.
