Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism, aviation and marine recreation, particularly in Langkawi, Penang, Sabah and the east coast. Island life is generally relaxed, multicultural and community-oriented, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences reflected in food, festivals and daily life. Langkawi suits resort professionals seeking beaches and outdoor activities, while Penang offers more urban convenience, heritage and dining. Living costs vary, with accommodation and transport usually higher in major tourist areas. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and should not begin work before approval. Employers commonly guide applications, medical checks and relocation paperwork. Candidates should confirm accommodation, insurance, transport, working hours and benefits before accepting an offer. English is widely used in tourism, though learning basic Malay helps with everyday communication.
