Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands, with major employment centers in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Hospitality opportunities are strongest in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol and other resort destinations, although seasonal demand can affect income and accommodation costs. Filipino culture is friendly, family-oriented and community-minded; English is widely used in hotels and business. Lifestyle varies from busy metropolitan living to relaxed beach or provincial communities. Manila offers the broadest services and transport, while resort islands provide a slower pace but may have higher prices and fewer facilities. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, while Filipino applicants should confirm local employment and transfer requirements. Relocating involves budgeting for housing, transport, health insurance, weather-related travel disruption and typhoon seasons. Always verify current immigration rules with Philippine authorities and the employer before moving.
