Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Sumatra and other islands, especially in hotels, resorts, tourism, events, food and beverage, and corporate services. Bali is the most international lifestyle destination, with strong tourism, a large expatriate community and a relaxed coastal culture, although housing and traffic can be challenging. Jakarta, on Java, provides broader corporate and MICE opportunities but has a busy urban lifestyle. Lombok and other resort islands offer quieter surroundings and growing hospitality markets. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, modesty and respectful relationships; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is helpful. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay visa before beginning employment. Relocation packages may include accommodation, flights, insurance or transport, but these should be confirmed with the employer. Costs vary significantly by island and location.
