Job Description

The Junior Sous Chef (Pastry) supports the Pastry Chef in managing daily pastry production, including breads, desserts, cakes, chocolates and other baked items. Requirements typically include professional culinary or pastry training, several years of experience in a hotel, resort or quality bakery, strong knowledge of food hygiene and pastry techniques, and the ability to supervise junior colleagues. The successful candidate is expected to maintain Shangri-La’s quality standards, organize production efficiently, control wastage, follow recipes and presentation guidelines, and contribute creative ideas to menus. Good teamwork, communication, attention to detail, stamina and a willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays are essential.
