Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, diverse food and many parks and attractions, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. International employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, and approval depends on salary, qualifications and government requirements. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should budget for deposits, transport and housing, compare neighbourhoods carefully and confirm whether accommodation, meals, insurance or relocation assistance are included in the employment offer.
