Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic territory made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent transport and a strong international job market. Hospitality opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, clubs, catering companies and cruise-related businesses, especially for experienced chefs and managers. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; workplace communication is commonly in English, Cantonese or Mandarin. Lifestyle options range from vibrant dining and shopping to beaches, hiking trails and nearby islands. Housing is expensive, so employer accommodation or a relocation allowance can be valuable. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, with approval based on qualifications, experience and a confirmed job offer. Candidates should prepare diplomas, references, medical or identity documents and proof of relevant experience. Public transport is efficient, and the city is well connected internationally.
