Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a dense, international city built around Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands nearby. Hospitality, finance, retail, aviation, technology, healthcare and education provide broad job opportunities, while luxury hotels offer roles for people with strong English and customer-service skills. Cantonese is the everyday language, although English is widely used professionally and Mandarin is helpful. Life is fast-paced, highly connected and convenient, with excellent public transport, varied food, shopping and vibrant cultural events. Housing can be expensive, so compare accommodation and commute costs carefully. Foreign employees normally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer and should secure approval before starting work; eligibility depends on qualifications, experience and a confirmed offer. Bring properly verified certificates, especially for safety-related positions, and check contract benefits, medical coverage and accommodation support before relocating.
