Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in hotels, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare, retail and professional services. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in festivals, neighbourhoods and famously diverse food. Life is convenient and safe, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Public transport is efficient, and most residents live in apartments or condominiums. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; common options include the Employment Pass for eligible professional roles and the S Pass for qualifying skilled positions, subject to salary and government requirements. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. Before relocating, check pass eligibility, medical or document requirements, housing costs, insurance, taxation and employment terms. Singapore’s tropical climate is warm and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so lightweight clothing and practical footwear are useful.
