Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, retail, events, floristry, tourism, finance, technology and professional services. The city combines Chinese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hospitality. Life is fast-paced, highly connected and convenient, with excellent public transport, varied dining, shopping, hiking and nearby beaches. Housing is expensive, so employees often live in compact apartments or commute from Kowloon or the New Territories. Foreign professionals normally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, with approval depending on qualifications, salary and the availability of a genuine role. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, insurance, banking and identity documentation. Hong Kong is not technically an island-only destination, but Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories together form the wider city.
