Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, events, finance, retail, technology and international business. Although it is a territory rather than a single island, Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories are connected by efficient MTR, buses and ferries. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is dominant, while English is widely used in hotels and professional workplaces. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent dining, shopping, hiking, beaches and public transport, though housing can be expensive and space is limited. Overseas employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa under the General Employment Policy, with an employment contract, qualifications and proof that the role is genuine and appropriately paid. Successful applicants must obtain a Hong Kong Identity Card and arrange accommodation, banking and healthcare after arrival.
