Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in hospitality, security, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and retail. The culture is multicultural, blending Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle is convenient and generally safe, offering excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and waterfront areas, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. The climate is hot, humid and rainy throughout the year. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on nationality, qualifications, salary and the role. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process, but approval is handled by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. New arrivals should budget for housing deposits, transport, healthcare and insurance, and confirm accommodation and work-pass arrangements before relocating.
