Company Info

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts, and urban properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. The group is recognised for warm Asian hospitality, personalised guest service, distinctive dining, and high-quality accommodation. Shangri-La properties commonly offer extensive facilities such as restaurants, spas, pools, meeting venues, recreational activities, and event spaces. In Sri Lanka, the company has operated major resort and city-hotel assets, contributing to the country's upscale tourism sector. Employees generally work in a multicultural environment with structured service standards, training opportunities, and exposure to international hospitality practices. Operational leadership roles are responsible for protecting the brand experience while adapting services to local guest expectations, market conditions, and the property's commercial objectives.

Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in tourism, hotels, travel services, food and beverage, technology, finance, education, and international business. Colombo is the main commercial centre, while destinations such as Hambantota, Galle, Kandy, and the southern and eastern coasts support expanding hospitality markets. The culture combines Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences, with strong traditions of family, religion, festivals, and welcoming guests. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in Western countries, although imported goods and premium housing can be expensive. Foreign employees usually need an employment or residence visa sponsored by the employer; requirements, approvals, and permits should be confirmed with Shangri-La and Sri Lankan immigration authorities before travel. Relocation planning should include accommodation, health insurance, transport, banking, tax advice, and suitable schooling where relevant. English is widely used in business and tourism, while Sinhala and Tamil are the national languages.
