Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance and professional services, with particularly active hiring in front-line hospitality. The culture combines Cantonese traditions, international influences, busy city life and excellent food. Living is convenient, with efficient public transport, but housing can be expensive and space is limited. Employees commonly live in areas such as Kowloon, Hong Kong Island or the New Territories, depending on budget and commute. Overseas workers normally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer; the company usually supports the application, and the role must meet immigration requirements. A valid passport, signed employment contract and proof of qualifications or experience are normally required. New arrivals should budget for rent deposits, transport and daily expenses, and arrange suitable medical and travel insurance before relocating.
