Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, marketing, technology, finance and professional services. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and languages. The lifestyle is safe, convenient and fast-paced, with efficient public transport, modern healthcare, shopping, parks and a vibrant dining scene. Housing can be expensive, particularly near central districts, so newcomers often compare shared accommodation with employer-provided options. Foreign professionals generally need an approved work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, sponsored or supported by an employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and government requirements. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, insurance and daily expenses, and confirm relocation assistance, taxation, medical coverage and pass arrangements with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
