Destination Guide

Qatar is a compact peninsula rather than an island, offering strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, education and business services. Doha is modern, safe and highly international, while local culture remains rooted in Islamic traditions, hospitality and family values. Respectful dress, especially in public and religious places, is expected. Summers are extremely hot, but indoor facilities are well air-conditioned; winter is pleasant and suitable for beaches, desert trips and outdoor activities. Most expatriates relocate through employer sponsorship. The company normally arranges a work visa, residence permit, medical checks and, depending on the package, accommodation, transport and return airfare. Employees should verify contract terms, benefits, probation rules and any recruitment fees before travelling. Qatar uses the Qatari riyal, and English is widely used in workplaces.
