Destination Guide

Qatar is a Gulf country rather than an island, with Doha and The Pearl-Qatar offering most employment opportunities. Jobs are concentrated in hospitality, construction, aviation, retail, healthcare, engineering, security, finance and business services. Qatar has a modern, international lifestyle, excellent shopping and dining, and warm weather for much of the year; summers are extremely hot. Arabic is the official language, while English is widely used in workplaces. Local culture values modest dress, respect for religion and customs, and considerate behavior in public. Employers normally arrange work authorization through an employer-sponsored residence visa, with medical checks and document attestation commonly required. Before relocating, confirm whether the package includes accommodation, transport, meals, health insurance, flights and annual leave. The Pearl is a well-developed waterfront district, but living costs can be high, so review housing and transport arrangements carefully before accepting an offer.
