Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, finance and technology, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Its culture combines Islamic traditions, Emirati hospitality and a highly international population. Respectful dress and behavior are important, especially during Ramadan and in public places. Life in the UAE is modern and convenient, with excellent transport, shopping, beaches and entertainment, although summers are extremely hot and accommodation can be expensive. For most hospitality roles, the employer arranges an employment visa, medical testing, Emirates ID and work authorization; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Contracts commonly include accommodation or an allowance, transport, health insurance and annual leave, but terms vary. New arrivals should verify the written offer, recruitment fees, housing arrangements and probation conditions before relocating. Dubai is multicultural, English-friendly and well connected internationally.
