AGENT, PURCHASING

On Cruise Carnival Cruises $45,000–$65,000 per year*
Job Description

The Purchasing Agent supports Carnival Cruise Line’s procurement activities by sourcing goods and services, obtaining quotations, preparing purchase orders, maintaining supplier records, and coordinating deliveries with internal departments. Candidates typically need purchasing or supply-chain experience, strong organization, attention to detail, and proficiency with procurement systems and Microsoft Office. Experience in the cruise, hospitality, maritime, or retail industries is helpful. The role requires effective negotiation, clear communication, accurate recordkeeping, and the ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines. The successful candidate is expected to follow company purchasing policies, maintain professional supplier relationships, monitor costs, and help ensure ships and shoreside operations receive the required supplies on time.

Company Info

Carnival Cruise Line is one of the world’s largest cruise companies and a flagship brand of Carnival Corporation & plc. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, Carnival operates a fleet of contemporary cruise ships serving destinations throughout the Caribbean, The Bahamas, Mexico, Alaska, Europe, and other regions. Its business includes onboard accommodation, dining, entertainment, recreation, excursions, retail, and guest services. Carnival is known for its lively, casual vacation experience and serves millions of guests each year. Shoreside employees support ship operations through areas such as procurement, finance, technology, marketing, human resources, marine operations, and logistics. The company offers opportunities in a fast-paced international environment where teamwork, customer focus, cost control, compliance, and reliable execution are important to maintaining smooth cruise operations.

Destination Guide

A cruise-based purchasing role is generally shoreside rather than located on one specific island, with Miami serving as a major hub for Carnival operations. Cruise-related opportunities include procurement, logistics, hotel operations, food and beverage, guest services, marine operations, entertainment, retail, and engineering. The work culture is international, service-oriented, and highly collaborative, with busy periods around ship departures and supply deliveries. Lifestyle depends on the assignment: shoreside staff have a regular city routine, while ship employees live onboard, work long shifts, and travel between ports. Employees relocating to the United States normally need employer-sponsored work authorization or another valid visa; cruise crew require appropriate seafarer documentation and company-arranged permissions. Relocation packages, housing, travel, and benefits vary by position, so candidates should confirm details directly with Carnival.
