Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, engineering, information technology, tourism, logistics, finance, and professional services. The garment sector is especially important and provides roles in production, maintenance, quality, industrial engineering, and management. The island has a warm tropical climate, diverse food, friendly communities, and a lifestyle ranging from busy Colombo to quieter coastal and hill-country towns. Living costs are generally lower than in many international business hubs, although Colombo housing can be comparatively expensive. English is widely used in professional workplaces, while Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa or residence authorization; tourist or business entry permission does not authorize employment. Candidates should confirm current visa rules with Sri Lankan authorities and their employer. Relocation planning should include accommodation, healthcare, transport, banking, tax obligations, and family arrangements.
