Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel, manufacturing, information technology, tourism, finance, logistics, engineering, and business services. The country has a diverse culture shaped by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and other communities, with Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity widely practiced. Life is generally affordable compared with many international destinations, although costs are higher in Colombo and popular tourist areas. The island provides beaches, mountains, wildlife parks, historic cities, and a warm tropical climate. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate visa or employment authorization before starting work; employers generally assist with work permits and related documentation. Interns should confirm whether their placement is paid and what documentation is required. Colombo offers the broadest professional opportunities and transport links, while regional cities may provide a quieter and less expensive lifestyle. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, health insurance, local transport, and a reliable source of funds before relocating.
