Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and manufacturing, information technology, tourism, finance, logistics, education, healthcare, and renewable energy. Colombo is the main commercial center, while cities such as Kandy, Galle, Katunayake, and Kurunegala also provide employment. The culture is welcoming and diverse, shaped by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences. English is widely used in business, although Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in many international cities, with affordable food, transport, and housing, though Colombo is more expensive. The island offers beaches, mountains, wildlife, and a relaxed social atmosphere. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment or internship visa, arranged with employer support and government approval; tourist status should not be used for employment. Relocating employees should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, healthcare, taxes, and local registration before arrival.
