Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, engineering, information technology, tourism, logistics, finance, healthcare, and shared services. The country has a warm tropical climate, diverse communities, and a culture shaped by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences. English is widely used in professional workplaces, while Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although Colombo is more expensive than smaller cities. Public transport is affordable, and major towns have private rental housing, shops, hospitals, and internet access. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment or residence visa, with sponsorship and approval arranged through the employer and Sri Lankan authorities; an internship may require a specific training or entry permit. Applicants should confirm current visa rules before travel. Relocating employees should budget for accommodation, transport, health insurance, documentation, and initial living expenses.
