Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, information technology, tourism, logistics, finance, engineering, healthcare, and shared services. Colombo and nearby industrial zones provide the widest range of professional roles, while regional cities offer opportunities in manufacturing, tourism, and agriculture. The country has a warm tropical climate, a relaxed social lifestyle, diverse food, and a strong culture of family, festivals, cricket, and hospitality. Living costs are generally lower than in many major international cities, although housing in Colombo can be relatively expensive. Foreign employees normally require an appropriate employment or residence visa arranged with employer support; working without authorisation is not permitted. Relocating candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, medical coverage, taxation, and visa arrangements before accepting an offer. English is widely used in business, while Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages.
