Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, engineering, IT, tourism, finance and shared services. The island has a diverse culture shaped by Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and colonial influences, with festivals, temples, beaches and historic cities spread across its regions. Colombo is the main commercial hub and offers the widest range of jobs, housing and international services, while areas such as Katunayake, Biyagama and Kandy also have important industrial employment. Living costs are generally lower than in many regional business centers, although rent and imported goods can be expensive in Colombo. English is widely used in professional workplaces. Foreign employees normally require an employment visa or residence authorization sponsored through the relevant authorities and employer. Relocating employees should confirm qualifications, tax obligations, healthcare arrangements and accommodation before arrival. Public transport is affordable, but traffic can be heavy around Colombo.
