Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers career opportunities in apparel and manufacturing, engineering, information technology, tourism, logistics, finance, healthcare, and business services. Colombo and nearby industrial zones provide the broadest employment market, while Kandy, Galle, Katunayake, and other regional centres also have opportunities. The culture is welcoming and diverse, influenced by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial traditions. People generally value courtesy, family, community, and religious customs. Lifestyle costs are lower than in many international business centres, although Colombo housing and imported goods can be relatively expensive. The island provides beaches, mountains, wildlife, historic sites, and strong public transport connections. Foreign nationals normally require an appropriate employment visa or residence approval, usually supported by the employer; tourist status should not be used for employment. Relocating candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, healthcare, taxation, and work-permit requirements before accepting an offer.
