Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, technology, tourism, finance, logistics, engineering, shared services and international business. Colombo and nearby industrial zones are the main employment centers, while Kandy, Galle and other cities provide additional opportunities. The culture combines South Asian traditions with strong community values, religious diversity and a generally welcoming attitude toward foreigners. Lifestyle costs are lower than in many Western countries, although Colombo is more expensive than regional areas. The island has tropical weather, beaches, mountains, wildlife and good regional travel options. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate entry visa and must obtain legal work authorization or an employment-related residence visa before working; employers usually assist with sponsorship and documentation. Internship rules can differ by nationality and program, so candidates should confirm requirements with MAS Holdings and Sri Lankan immigration authorities.
