Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, engineering, information technology, tourism, logistics, finance, and business services. The island has a warm tropical climate, diverse landscapes, and a culture shaped by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and other communities. Colombo is the main commercial centre, while manufacturing roles are also available near export-processing zones and regional industrial areas. Living costs are generally lower than in many international business hubs, although housing and transport costs vary by location. English is widely used in professional workplaces, while Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages. Foreign nationals normally require an appropriate employment or residence visa arranged with employer support before working. Interns should confirm eligibility, accommodation, insurance, transport, and local employment permissions before relocating. Sri Lanka provides beaches, mountains, wildlife, historic cities, and convenient domestic travel.
