Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and textiles, engineering, manufacturing, information technology, tourism, finance, logistics, and research. Colombo and nearby industrial zones provide the greatest concentration of professional roles, while Kandy, Galle, and other cities offer a quieter lifestyle. The culture is diverse and generally welcoming, with Sinhala, Tamil, and English widely used in different settings. Living costs are moderate, though Colombo is more expensive than regional areas. Public buses and trains are affordable, while taxis and ride-hailing services are convenient. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment or residence visa sponsored or supported by an employer; a tourist visa does not permit employment. Candidates should confirm visa rules, salary, accommodation, healthcare, and relocation support directly with MAS and Sri Lankan authorities before moving.
