Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and textile manufacturing, engineering, IT, tourism, logistics, finance and shared services, particularly around Colombo, Katunayake, Biyagama and major industrial zones. The culture combines South Asian traditions with strong community values, and English is widely used in business alongside Sinhala and Tamil. Life can be affordable compared with many international destinations, with varied food, beaches, mountains, wildlife and historic cities. Colombo provides the broadest range of housing, transport, healthcare and social activities, while industrial locations may offer a quieter lifestyle. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work or residence visa and should confirm current requirements with Sri Lankan immigration authorities before travelling. Relocating employees should arrange formal employment documentation, accommodation, health insurance and tax advice. Traffic, humidity and occasional power or fuel disruptions may require adjustment, but public transport and domestic travel are widely available.
