Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel and manufacturing, information technology, tourism, finance, logistics, engineering, healthcare, and business services. Colombo and nearby industrial zones are the main employment centers, while Kandy, Galle, and other cities provide additional opportunities. The country has a diverse culture shaped by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and Burgher communities, with Sinhala and Tamil as official languages and English widely used in business. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in many international cities, although Colombo housing and transport can be more expensive. The island is known for beaches, mountains, wildlife, historic sites, and welcoming communities. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa or residence authorization arranged with employer support; tourist visas do not permit employment. Relocating candidates should confirm current immigration rules, healthcare arrangements, accommodation, taxation, and work-permit requirements before accepting an offer.
