Colombo is the main commercial center and provides the widest range of professional jobs, while cities such as Kandy, Galle, and Katunayake offer opportunities in education, tourism, manufacturing, and industrial operations. The country has a welcoming, multicultural society influenced by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial traditions. Life is generally affordable compared with many international business hubs, with tropical weather, beaches, mountains, wildlife, and excellent local food.
