Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, technology, manufacturing, finance, education, and tourism, particularly in Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Work culture values punctuality, preparation, teamwork, respect for hierarchy, and careful communication, although many companies are becoming more flexible and international. Urban life is convenient, safe, and well connected by rail, while regional areas offer lower living costs, nature, and a quieter pace. Housing, transport, and childcare costs vary considerably by city. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work visa, often sponsored by their employer; qualifications and Japanese-language ability can affect eligibility. Skilled professionals should arrange residence registration, health insurance, a bank account, and a mobile phone after arrival. Japanese is important for customer-facing roles, especially pharmaceutical sales. Relocation packages may include travel, temporary housing, moving support, or language assistance, but these benefits should be confirmed directly with the employer.
