Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology and healthcare. English is widely used, and the multicultural society reflects Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, diverse food and many parks, shopping areas and cultural attractions. Accommodation and daily expenses can be high, especially near central districts, so staff housing or transport benefits are worth checking. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and experience, with the Employment Pass and S Pass being common professional and skilled-worker routes. Employers usually handle applications, while candidates must meet immigration requirements. New arrivals should arrange a local address, bank account, medical coverage and understand employment conditions before relocating.
